SENIOR SCHOOL
|
| Academics |
The School is an open academic institution and admits learners of all races and religious denominations. We pride ourselves on our high academic standard which is made possible by the excellence of our staff and the small classes. Our classes are kept to 25 learners. In the High School, subject choices result in the classes dividing into even smaller groups. Most of the pupils who enter St Dominic's in the Primary School continue through the grades and matriculate here, thus giving their school years a continuity and stability which is of great value in these times of rapid change.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINATION BOARD MATRIC EXAMINATIONS |
| St Dominic's matrics write the school leaving examination set by the Independent Examinations Board (IEB). The IEB is an organization whose examinations are written by private schools throughout South Africa . These examinations conform to the requirements of the Certification Board and are recognized by all Universities and Technicons. The aim of the IEB is to maintain a high standard of education and to encourage learners to think critically and to apply the knowledge and skills taught in the classroom. The examinations are set on a syllabus which is virtually identical to the National Core Syllabus although the prescribed literature books for the languages (English, Afrikaans, French and Zulu) are different from those studied at Gauteng Education Department schools. |
